As usual, I’m way to lazy to take pictures of my food before scarfing it down. You’ll have to trust me when I say Toro Toro was pretty good. We’d go back. We enjoyed a platter of meats, all which were delicious. The octopus and its suckers were also delectable.
But the whole purpose of this post is to sheepishly demonstrate that I’m totally a sucker for catchy deserts. This one was delicious. It’s called La Bomba, and it’s a chocolate bomb.
Yup, you read that right. It’s a chocolate bomb. I no longer am going to crave a cupcake. Or coffee ice cream. Or a mudslide. I am going to crave a chocolate bomb. And I don’t even really like dessert all that much, at least not after dinner. I’m more of a no dessert person, or at least dessert as a meal person. Yes, health-nuts, this is totally a thing. Why should dessert be relegated to third place, after you’re already stuffed? What a waste.
Back to la bomba. What is it, you ask? It’s a chocolate shell, filled with…cream cheese mousse, passionfruit sorbet, chocolate cookie crumbs, cream anglaise, berries!, caramel, and dulce de leche ice cream.
Ok, so the ingredients aren’t that exciting in a list. Except berries, I’m just obsessed with berries. And cream anglaise. Anyway.
I said the dessert was catchy, right? Well, all these ingredients come out in the bomb, and the bomb is just dropped in the middle of your table. Yup, dropped. Like a bomb.
It then breaks into a bunch of pieces and you can actually use your hand to eat it. After the yummy stuff is drizzled on top, of course. Sort of takes you back to fingerpainting as a child. Though I never really remember liking to fingerpaint that much.
For the germaphobes out there (like me), they lay plastic down on the table before dropping the bomb. No worries.
Don’t even get me started about the markup on this dessert, because I just don’t care. La bomba was la bomba.
And then, la bomba was la gone. They say this is for two people. I think it’s only for two people if those two people haven’t eaten all day. Or just did an ironman. After dinner, it’s easy to share among 4-5.
